Global Power Rankings

The Athletic Power Index scores every athlete across eight measurable dimensions — speed, strength, endurance, agility, mental toughness, skill ceiling, competitive record, and recovery rate. One number is never the whole truth; eight numbers together are hard to argue with. Read the full methodology or dive straight into the deep dives.

How Rankings Are Calculated

Eight metrics. Peer-reviewed sports science literature, competition data from sanctioning bodies, and a panel of twelve analysts who have each held national-level coaching positions. No poll. No fan vote. The Athletic Power Index is a composite score where every weight was argued over until someone walked out of the room.

Each metric is normalized to a 0–100 scale within its sport, then cross-sport adjusted using a conversion model validated against six independent performance datasets. An athlete who peaks in one category cannot coast on it — the formula penalizes extreme imbalance.
